Martine Verweij
Martine is Kids Run Free's founder and Operations Manager. Martine has 13 years experience in Sports Events Management. Martine has a first class Athletics pedigree. She has competed in Long Distance World Triathlon Championships including the Trans-Alp and the Cape Epic. She also has a degree in Nutrition from Sheffield Hallam University.
Martine was primarily responsible for creating the Kids Run Free format, based on her athletics experience and her understanding of the physical needs of children.
Martine, along with our Trustees, sets the strategy for Kids Run Free. She works particularly closely with the governing bodies of athletics, and with potential sponsors to ensure that Kids Run Free has sound governance and financial security.
Martine frequently attends our Events to ensure that they are being effectively run, and to receive feedback from parents and Race Directors.
She runs our sister company Raceways. Raceways organises adult 5k, 10k, and half marathon races. All the profits from Raceways events go towards the funding of KIds Run Free.
Martine is a mother of two children, under five years. As a family, her husband and two children are actively engaged in the sporting world.
