DANIELS STORY - OUR YOUNGEST EVER FUNDRAISER

Back in December 2016 Daniel Willis, at the age of just six years old became our youngest ever fundraiser.

It all started when Daniel began attending the Leamington Spa Parks event two years earlier, and discovered a love of running. At first he was running 100m, but soon built up his confidence and stamina to ultimately be running 3k at each event.

When Daniel heard about our Marathon Kids programme, where children aim to complete up to four marathons over the academic year by running/walking laps of the school field or playground, he set himself the amazing challenge of completing a marathon in just one month to raise money for Kids Run Free. Being a superstar role-model Daniel easily completed his challenge over a series of days and session, in the impressive time of 6 hours, 10 minutes and 57 seconds!

Since then, Daniel’s positive experience inspired his school to launch Marathon Kids and get even more kids moving. We call it a ‘chain of inspiration’.

The funds that Daniel raised helped to provide more fun and accessible running events for children just like him.
