Kids Run Free Annual Festival of Running 2018

Wow, what can we say about our Kids Run Free Annual Festival of Running on Wednesday 20th June other than the children were absolutely amazing! We were back at the Edmondscote Athletics Track for the 5th Year to celebrate with some of the local schools who are on our Marathon Kids programme, presenting awards and clocking up some very impressive laps! Lets get started with some super stats from the day:

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ470 Marathon Kids from 8 schools

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ4,036 laps of the 400m track ran in total

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ1614.4km overall distance

πŸŽ– 38.25 marathons (which would get you from Leamington Spa to Monaco and do a lap of the Grand Prix Circuit 🏁)

The festival started with the individual Year Group Races: Nursery: 25m, Reception: 50m, Year 1: 100m, Year 2: 200m, Year 3: 300m, Year 4: 300m, Year 5: 350m and Year 6: 400m. We saw some fantastic running in all of the races and congratulations to all the winnersΒ πŸ₯‡πŸ₯ˆπŸ₯‰Β Whilst the Year Group Races were on, the Everyone Active team from Leamington Spa had set up an amazing agility course and warm up area to put everyone through their paces!

Next up, everyone was split into year groups at the start line, with Year 6 leading from the front and then all 470 of our Marathon Kids were off! The challenge was simple, run as many laps as you can and collect a lap band each time. After 45 mins of the most impressive running we’ve ever seen (this included the Teachers too!) a grand total of 4,036 lap bands had been collected.

Last up were the awards, so lets take a look at the score board:
