On Saturday 15th July local women’s running club, Run Like a Girl (RLG), took on the annual Leamington Carnival to showcase their work and inspire others in the community. Their float was filled with young children and their mums that chose to support Kids Run Free by wearing the charity’s branded t-shirts and by donating the £110.18 they raised.
The national charity has been inspiring children in the community to be active through running for over 6 years and, since RLG was created two years ago, has seen the RLG children getting involved in both the charity’s running events in the parks (Leamington Spa every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month at Newbold Comyn Park and Warwick every 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month) and through their primary school programme Marathon Kids, which has been running in Warwickshire schools for 4 years.
Our Founding CEO, Martine Verweij said: “We were so happy to hear that the RLG ladies chose to support our charity in the local carnival. Children who are active at a young age are more likely to stay active for life, and we will be able to use the money raised to support our running programmes locally. This is fantastic support because this shows recognition for all the hard work we have been doing in the local community.”
