27 students from Hitherfield Primary School, who all ran a marathon or more over the course of 16/17 academic year, were treated to an unforgettable day out, courtesy of Nike. The excited children were first taken to see live athletics at the IAAF World Championships, seeing UK athletes Emily Diamond, Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Andrew Pozzi compete, and soaking up the atmosphere of a live event.
Afterwards, the children had the opportunity to visit British Athletes House and see how the UK athletes relax between competing. They were amazed and exhilarated at surprise guest Sir Mo Farah, as they were given the opportunity to put questions to the British athletics legend.
Sir Mo takes on the role of global Marathon Kids Ambassador, and was relaxed and enthusiastic as he engaged with the children to encourage them to continue on their running journey with Marathon Kids.
For Kids Run Free, having Sir Mo Farah as global Marathon Kids Ambassador opens huge opportunities to ignite children’s passion for physical activity and make them healthier, happier, more confident children.
