This year Kids Run Free began a new project - The Kids Marathon, an innovative project which encourages children to run a marathon over the duration of the school year. The project has been trialled in 9 schools this year and is set to expand to 20 schools next year. This year we invited schools, parents and pupils to The Kids Run Free Festival of Running which combined Kids Run Free races with a Kids Marathon Celebration - to give children a taste of how much fun running really is!
The Kids Run Free Festival of Running took place on July 12th at Edmondscote Athletics Stadium, Leamington Spa. Over 150 children took part, enjoying a chance to run on a real athletics track in front of their friends and family. There was also an inter-school competition to see which school could run the furthest on the day!
All children who took part received a certificate stating the distance they completed.
Whilst all these races were going on, Star Tracks organised field activities to give children a taste for high jump, long jump and throwing events.
